What got you started surfing- My uncle at Doheny when I was a tyke.

What keeps you surfing- I have no idea.

Most memorable surf- Trail 6, thigh high surf with my friends clowning around, laughing and having a blast.

Dream surf trip, whether you've already taken it, or dream of going- Trail 6, shoulder high surf with my friends, clowning around.

Favorite break- Bay Street when it's supposed to suck so nobody's there, and it doesn't suck.

How has surfing changed you- It has taught me some humility.

What do you do when there are no waves- Try to surf.

What are you trying to do or learn to raise your level of surfing- Trying to find a way in a overstressed life to clock more time in the water.

Favorite surfers- Tupper, Pops, Jay Jackson, Steve Simpson, T Kelley Mason.

Surfing pet peeve- Unfriendly surfers, they ruin it out there. Also people who litter and finding plastic and crap in the water.

Ideal surf conditions- Shoulder high, glassy, not too crowded and the mood is fun and the water is chock full o' aloha.

Anything to add- Surfing is weird.
